Arline's paintings reveal the landscape with which she has been directly involved.

Arline began her serious art work in the Bay area of California, studying still life, plein air, portrait and figurative painting under a very fine artist and teacher, Jonathan Batchelor. This early and thorough painting education was to permanently shape Arline’s process of painting. She sees the new painting motif as a myriad of colorful quilt-like shapes, and paints them directly onto the white or lightly stained canvas. No underpainting mother colors for her!

Arline's further education in art included an art teaching degree from Minot State University in Minot, North Dakota, an MA in Studio Painting from NAU in Flagstaff, Arizona and innumerable plein air workshops studying under many fine artists. She has plain air painted in all of the places she has lived, which includes upstate New York, where she is from, Connecticut, North Carolina, California, Wyoming, North Dakota and now Arizona.

Arline has also done plain air studies in Mexico, Italy, Sicily, and France. She has work in private collections across the country. She is a juried member of the Arizona Watercolor Association and has worked extensively in serigraphy but now is painting mostly in oil.
Her favorite past exhibits include showing her five large Bosnia- inspired paintings at the Peace and Conflict Resolution in Phoenix, 1999, and having a painting included in the second hundred National Arts for the Parks Exhibit, 2003 and 2005.

She has also written and illustrated a children's book, published by Red Crane of Santa Fe, New Mexico, "Young Goat's Discovery."
