David Edwards has been a freelance photographer and guide on expeditions for over 30 years. He has traveled extensively throughout Asia documenting and exploring native cultures, with a special interest in Mongolia and China. For the past three decades Dave has led river trips in the Grand Canyon. He leads educational and photographic expeditions on rivers and land throughout the world.

Dave is especially noted for his intimate relationship with Mongolia. He founded the Flagstaff International Relief Effort (F.I.R.E.), a non-profit organization dedicated to the collection and distribution of winter clothing and medical supplies to the impoverished population of Mongolia.

His story about the Kazakh Eagle Hunters of Western Mongolia appeared in the September 1999 issue of National Geographic Magazine. One of these images was chosen to be among National Geographic’s, 100 Best Pictures. Dave’s current documentary projects range from the indigenous culture of the Tibetan region to the endangered Condors of the Vermillion Cliffs, AZ. For the past three decades Dave has led river trips in the Grand Canyon. He leads educational and photographic expeditions on rivers and land throughout the world. He continues to teach and lecture on photography, Mongolia, and the Grand Canyon.
